For health reasons, we had to move our mother from her home in Florida, so I wanted to suspend her ADT service until we find a new place for her in Tennessee near the family. I was told I only had 30 days to do so, and would now owe over $700 for cancelling a 3-year contract.
I do not recall ever discussing a contractual obligation, nor did I ever sign any contract. Unless they can show me proof that I previously agreed to this obligation, I will not pay for cancelling what I thought was a monthly service I could turn off and on. I am certainly not paying them $800 for services not yet rendered. I feel like this is a total scam, and absolutely fraudulent.
I have not had any issue with ADT until now. I got caught in a similar scam by a magazine outlet, and it took me years to shake them off.
This is just consumer fraud. And it has a changed my opinion ADT forever.
