My Parents had ADT for over 30 years in Palm Coast, Florida They had to move back to to NJ to be closer to me, Dad has dementia and Mom has breast cancer. My dad is in and out of nursing homes and they no longer need the service. ADT refuses to waive the termination fee. My Mom is on a fixed income now and cannot afford to give ADT $574 as a termination fee. Customer Service states their is nothing they can do as my Mom signed a contract. My Parents had a lease for one year, they would not have signed a 3 year lease if it was explained to them properly. ADT preys on Senior Citizens and I would never recommend them to anyone.

I am 71 and I am be scammed: 1)Responded to an ADT promotion of $27.99 for a security system with NO noticeable exceptions 2)When installing the system & preparing the contract on his Ipad, the salesperson did not advise about landline cost or insurance at $52.99 monthly. 3)Signed my name on at least seven places and signed my initials to multipage without informing me 4)Created an automatic payment with my credit card for monthly billing 5)Did not inform that the first payement would be for two months of $113.

6)Did not inform that the first payment would come out of my account within a few days of the $109 and $66 payments. 7)When I tried to cancel, I had to contact them for two days & fax the cancellation notice which cost me $3. 8)Sent a person out to my home after calling them a 3rd time to cancel & he made additional promises 9)A person visited my home and who called himself, an escalator” told me he had the power to make deals & do refunds that the people on the phone could not do. He offered to refund all money paid and reduced the monthly payment if I would not cancel.

I agreed to that. He gave me a one-page contract for me to sign showing the new rate. 10)He called in and got the $66 credit. When I asked him about the other refunds, he said he would have to wait until he got back to the office and finished the paperwork before he could issue it.

11)I called the next morning and said I changed my mind and did not want o to renegotiate the contract. I wanted to cancel but was told I could not believe. My contract was not for 11/15 but rather 11/2. There was no new contract.

I was not getting my refund back. 12)On November 4th after calling them and not being able to cancel the contract, I contacted my credit card company and told them what had happened. I file a dispute for all charges. They have issued me my credit 13) On today November 20th received a call wanting me to pay the $109, the amount the credit card refunded first.

14)It appears they are still trying to keep me in the contract. I have filed a complaint with BBB and FTC. I will not be taken advantage of or intimidate. Today’s call was meant to do just that.

The companies, ADT and Defenders, Inc.

are refusing to cancel the contract and is trying to make me pay for three years of service and refuses to pickup their equipment. With the six people I have spoken to over the phone, a letter from the above woman and an email from Keshia Smith, none have told the same story including the installer and the escalator who came to my home.

I hope it can help you in getting a resolution ! Tell them you are posting this disgrace everywhere with the help of friends - 30 year customers treated like garbage that's ADT.

I will tell people of this disgraceful attitude from ADT. I hope that social media can be of help to get your parents some fair treatment from this awful company.

I suggest you post this story any and everywhere you can and even call or write someone from the news about your experience with ADT.

This really upsets me to hear that your parents, going through so much already, are being bullied by this very wealthy company. Shame on them!

Adt - Customer Care Review

Adt called me on a Tuesday to see if they could come come that day instead of our scheduled appointment of Thursday. I rep said my balance was $488. I told her i agreed to pay monthly and if that was the case i was no longer interested. She called me three minutes later and told me it was an error and that i was signed up for monthly billing. Forward Thursday comes i speak to the rep again about the error they apologize we move foward with the install. Five minutes after they leave, i receive an alert from my bank my account is over drawn. That $488 was taken out from ADT. I call them immediately. Bottom line is days later my account it's still over drawn. I could not pay the balance of my food for my grand opening which was the next day friday and things were bouncing everywhere. I receiving nfs fees daily. Its the holidays. I'm reporting this on my way to the airport with three children for Christmas with a negative bank account. This it's my first involvement with ADT and i want out.

Nine days of "chirping" - and ADT doesn't see a problem

Has anyone else had a similar experience with ADT/doing business as Guardian? We had our whole house MONITORED ADT/Guardian system installed last Spring. Almost immediately we began getting false alarms. The person who installed it came to the house and fixed the problem. We had another false alarm last month, and a neighbor entered our house and rebooted the system. We returned to AZ last Wednesday and found the carbon monoxide/smoke detector in the bedroom “chirping.” Has ADT/Guardian called us about our monitored system? No, not once. Three days, one handyman, two batteries, a visit from the Fire Department (to make certain there wasn’t smoke or a carbon monoxide leak) and two calls to Guardian (formerly ADT) later the “chirping” continues. The Service Representative (who, incidentally, should be called the Non-Service Representative) gave my husband all sorts of advice, none of which stopped the “chirping,” right up until she suggested that he pull the wires out of the system. Not wanting to have to explain to our family and friends how my husband electrocuted himself, I suggested that we ask for an IN-HOME SERVICE CALL, just like the contract guarantees. The Non-Service Representative can have someone here NEXT FRIDAY, six days from today, nine days after the problem started. Interesting enough I had an ADT system in another house and had it disabled AFTER the alarm went off, I answered the phone, the monitor/representative from ADT said, “Is this Judy?,” I said it was, she said, “Okay, your alarm is going off.” Did it occur to ADT that I had a security code on the account for a reason AND the chances are at least 50/50 that a burglar would also have answered, “Yes”? As far as I am concerned ADT/Guardian has broken Contract with us, a Contract which GUARANTEES “fast service” in order to “Protect [our] Home and Loved Ones From Theft, Fire, and Intrusions.” The only thing fast about ADT/Guardian is the speed with which they removed the initial deposit and continue to remove the monthly payments from our checking account. Oh, and the $100 “gift credit card” rebate - non-existent. I’ve probably spent $100 in time, photocopies and postage trying to collect the “gift credit card.” DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE!

I am a Veteran , with USAA. I was not given discount as promised. ADT in my local area is $27 a month. But ADT, that I talked to from getting their number from USAA charged me over $100 down and over $57 a month. This is not fair to Veterans who served their country. I even talked to USAA . They agree with me. This is a rip off. To add insult to injury, the reps. I spoke with had bad attitudes. They also put my credit score in an email to me. O was upset. Anyone could get my info. How unprofessional.

I to am a vet, retired in 94. this does not disolve me from ny responsibilities, read paperwork as taught, the $27 a month is for USAA is for base equipment[that you get a purchase on]discount of approx.

40 - 50 % and base monitoring. You did not opt for this option, you went with a different program where the equipment was free with a $ 100. install fee.

your monitoring of $ 57 a month also indicates you opted for additional monitoring services as well. Now PLEASE do not use the vetern title to complain, you should be smart enough to know what your doing prior to signing.

ADT - breach of terms of contract

Had ADT provide entire CCTV and Fire Alarm security to our new house Went with every suggestions as made and the installation was floppy, poor standards, our is an old house, external bricks were damaged when drilling holes through the walls...floor boards were ripped out without due care and when it came to the end of the installation was advised to sign off the sheet knowing very well the CCTV installation hadn't been completed. For a Global Security firm to complete CCTV camera installation - it has taken 9 months and numerous visits from ADT engineers who were either too busy to complete the job or not skilled enough...gosh! if only I had known earlier of their poor standards. And to beat this - I have a 3 year contract that I am tied into even after knowing that ADT has been charging me for the past 9 months CCTV fee while it hadn't been working completely!!!

Adt trys to bully and harrass customers

I canceled my service on December 12, 2016 and since that time I have been called 3 and 4 times a day everyday. it has gotten to the point that now as soon as they sa adt I just hang up. The conversations are never recorded in the notes as they took place and the reps actually lie ! I have been forced to contact the attorney Generals off ice t force them to stop the harassing calling. I would never recommend them to any one! Their reps are the most rude and unprofessional people on the planet. Its almost as if they are working on commission. Do not use this service it totally sucks

Worse service ever

I have been with ADT for almost 8 years and was treated like trash. I never have problems or have to call about anything. I scheduled a appointment and agreed to pay the asinine price that they were asking me to pay. Tech got to my home at 8:30am and finally at 11:30am told me that the pulse network was down and his boss said go to lunch and return. Ok so 3 hour later and still no camera> I agree for him to return at 4pm once again putting me out my way. Only to get here and two hours later still no luck. Pissed off as I was I stated that the only time I could be here was the following Saturday am because we already have plans just to be told by a rude as rep that nothing was available. So the *** with my plans. Long story short they care less about our needs as long as we paying and agreeing to their prices the are golden. I'm taking my eight years of services and is moving to ATT the *** with ADT time for a change.

Unethical and Poorly Ran Home Security

ADT: I am not in the least bit happy about the services that you guys "provide." We moved into our home November 1, 2016 and got your "service" or lack there of installed on November 18th. Well guess what, someone broke into our home with the system armed on December 15th.

No service, no customer service, bad and terrible customer service. We will be taking this matter further. As our home was burglarized on Thursday, we decided to get an entire system on Saturday, just 2 days later.

We opted to unplug the ADT system and have yet to receive a call as today is Monday. Who is running this service and business entity as it is poorly, POORLY functional!

ADT says they are not responsible for companies that sell their security systems! Both ADT and the company that sold me an ADT security system have collected money from my savings account even tho I did not sign an agreement and there is no system installed in my home!...

I received an ADT "SPECIAL OFFER" for a "FREE QUOTE" of 27.99 per month for a security system by email. I filled out the info they wanted and clicked on the "GET FREE QUOTE" link.

I received a call within minutes! The salesman got my interest and said he needed to play a recording, after the recording he asked what I thought! I told him there was a lot of info that had nothing to do with the security system and the $36 dollar per mo was higher than their add was. I was told the the recording was ill-relevant to the special offer deal and the $27.99 for 12 months price was good.

I asked what would the price be after the 12 month agreement and I was told the price would not go up but would be for less. I was given a possible install date, I said OK, he asked for my credit card number, I gave it to him and he confirmed the install date and time. The installer came out and tried for 3 hours to sell me an extra $5,000+ amount of equipment, I kept saying no and he finally installed the 27.99 deal. After installation I was given a 36 month agreement to sign, I said no because I was sold a 12 month agreement.

I was told they did not believe me and they would never sell a 12 month agreement! They kept trying to get me to sign the 36 month deal and I kept saying no! They kept insisting they would never sell a 12 month agreement! They asked me if I wanted to cancel the 36 month agreement, I told them the cancel was on them, I could not cancel an agreement I never agreed to in the 1st place.

Because I would not sign the bait and switch 36 month agreement they removed all the equipment leaving drill and screw holes in our walls and pulled staples on the floor.

This was a very annoying 5 hour experience. If anyone asks me about ADT I will gladly give a proper answer.

ADT OREGON Outdoor camera failure

LaPine OR - ADT "The Defenders" authorized dealer sold me an outdoor WiFi interface camera with warranty. Camera failed after 14 months. Arranged a ADT corp. tech visit; tech states dealer should not have sold the camera since it cant handle the cold temps, corporate states they don't make a camera for cold weather and to call for refund/credit. for over 4 months I have gotten the run around by ADT corp. After 3 weeks of back & forth correspondence, their area Service Team Manager Eric Willard (out of Beaverton) promised a credit; Credit never issued and now Mr. Willard has disappeared - his email no longer valid and no return calls. So last I called ADT corp. via 800#, after 40 minutes of another run around and they now send me BACK TO THE authorized dealer, and they need to make a visit to verify, even though a tech from the parent company states camera is dead. DON'T BUY ANYTHING BUT BASIC MONITORING EQUIP FROM THIS COMPANY

ADT 3 year contact is ridiculous

I had ADT installed almost two years ago. On the phone they make it sound like the deal of the century with this price break and the gift cards you will receive, etc. The security service they advertise only covers door entries and no windows I only found out when the installers arrived at my home. He made it sound like I'm really not that protected just having the doors on the system, and I should have the windows protected too, well that was another $1,200,and a 3 year contract. I pay $69.00 a month for services. I plan on moving to a new location in about three months and when I called to see how much it would cost to cancel, they told me 75% of the total monthly cost between now and the contract end date, which is almost $600.00, unless I transfer the service to my new home with another three year contract. This is absurd! I would discourage anyone to sign up with ADT.
