My elderly parents moved to their retirement home in 1995, ADT security system installed then, charged $35 per month for 17 years that equals over $7000. for that time period, being elderly they forgot and ignored the system but continued paying the bills all their lives. I am now involved because their times have passed, telephone does not work in house = ADT system is culprit, disconnect system to get phones working, tried several attempts to reboot and clear the system, no luck, asked for service and to talk to the repair tech before they send out a repair order "Sorry We Can't Allow Our Technicians to Talk With the Consumers" why not? "Our Policy" ok... how much? "$180 to show up and $40 per 15 mins work not including materials" . I asked them to stop billing because I am dissatisfied, sent them Power Of Atty paperwork, "Sorry you can't stop service without telling us your parents secret password" Now !!!! if you want to see steam and blood pressure going to the moon - DO NOT GET INVOLVED with ADT. ADT is bad, but they are not the worst. Any alarm company that offers you a "FREE" GE (ITI) system is a joke. They should not be trusted. ADT Dealers use these and the dealers are all hacks. Never let a tech into your home unless they are employeed by the company you hired, with a company truck, and a full uniform. Most of the sub contractors are hacks and cannot be trusted. |

You could go to the trouble of provideing a death cert. or just fax your local office a copy of the power of attny with a request not only to stop the service but a response from a local manager. Passwords are for identification in an alarm situation and nothing else. There is no such thing as an evergreen contract so if there was not a renewal of contract involved it is just a month to month service and can be canceled at any time by anyone. |

Frontpoint security system is doing very well for me. It has the following. - live video monitoring on my iphone (also works with blackberry or android. - they have awesome customer reviews. Full-star rating on Yelp - 30 day trial - you get your money back if you aren't satisfied for any reason - The best customer support department in the industry. - GE wireless equipment which means reliability. - crash and smash technology in their control panel. The system is wireless and if you have some basic installation skills, you wouldnt need a technician. You just need to call the company for them to check and activate your system.
