We had an ADT alarm system in our home. We had it activated, but then I had to move from my residence and am now renting a home with no alarm system. How can I get out of the contract, the ADT people have sent this too collections now and I have not got $500.00 to get out of the contract. Isnt actual moving to a new city where there isnt ADT in the new residence a good enough reason to terminate... Read more

I'm the poor guy who had two homes with ADT (FL and VA) Cancelled them both by phone and letters (HAD SYSTEM PROBLEMS WITH BOTH LOCATIONS) and later found ADT was still billing the VA home and charging my credit card even though their system was disconnected and I was getting no service!!! Wonder why they didn't call to say their security system reflect a problem?? Certainly no 24/7 protection... Read more

Had had ADT for under 3yrs. Started out at $120.00 now it's up to $154 per quarter. C.S. rep a nasty b she told me I should have read contract bec in it it states they can raise rate every year. IF purchased a "FREE SECURITY SYSTEM" and your contract was originally from an ADT Dealership d/b/a "Secure Watch", "Secure Automation" or "SWS-LLC" based out of Knoxville, TN, there is a high likelihood you were subjected to questionable sales tactics. We have had ADT in our homes since 1998 and eight weeks ago wanted to upgrade to pulse to remotely access one (1) door and the panel. I called to cancel my services with ADT recently. I was told that my agreement was for 3 years. I said that it was for 1 year as I have an addendum, signed by their sales rep, to prove it. DEFENDER Direct, Inc. operates as a provider of ADT security systems. You may think you contracted with ADT when you actually bought your equipment from DEFENDER Direct, Inc. Several zones in my home signaled problems. I had 4 different technicians come to my house over a one month period and none of them fixed the problem! When I called the office to report that the problem wasn't repaired each time, I was told that a supervisor was on the case and it issue would be taken care with the next service call. I just had the same experience today. Stated that each time I moved, I started a new contract versus just transferring the service. Stated that I have two years of service left, informed I've had you guys for 4 years. Representative just trying to scare me into more years of service. Do not sign up with ADT.
